Saved by Grace birthday reflection

Saved By Grace

A Birthday Reflection

Birthdays have a way of making us stop and look back.

We remember the milestones, celebrate the victories, grieve the losses, and wonder what the next year of life will bring. As I celebrate another birthday today, I find myself reflecting on one truth that has carried me through every season of my life.

I am saved by grace.

Not because I have always made the right choices.

Not because I have earned God’s favor.

Not because I have somehow become the person I should be.

Simply because of His amazing grace.

When I look back over my life, I don’t see perfection. I see mistakes, broken dreams, seasons of fear, moments of regret, and countless times when I wondered if God could still use someone like me.

Yet every step of the way, He has remained faithful.

His grace met me in my failures.

His mercy carried me through my darkest days.

His love never gave up on me, even when I struggled to believe I was worth loving.

Today, I also celebrate another milestone that reminds me just how faithful God has been.

By His grace, I am 20 months and 5 days sober.

That number isn’t something I achieved through willpower alone. It is a testimony to what God can do when we surrender one day at a time.

Some days have been easy.

Some days have been anything but.

There have been moments when I wanted to run back to old habits, moments when life felt overwhelming, and moments when I questioned whether I was strong enough to keep moving forward.

But I have learned something beautiful.

God has never asked me to carry tomorrow.

He has only asked me to trust Him today.

One day became another.

Then another.

And somewhere along the way, those ordinary days became twenty months and five days.

Saved by Grace Through Every Season

That is what grace looks like.

Grace isn’t only found in dramatic miracles.

Sometimes grace is found in getting out of bed when your heart is heavy.

Sometimes grace is choosing forgiveness when bitterness feels easier.

Sometimes grace is caring for someone you love when life doesn’t look the way you imagined.

Sometimes grace is simply taking one more step when you don’t know what comes next.

As I think about this past year, I’m grateful for so much more than another birthday.

I’m grateful for quiet mornings with a cup of coffee and God’s Word.

I’m grateful for lessons learned through caregiving.

I’m grateful for unexpected opportunities to serve others.

I’m grateful for dreams God continues to place in my heart through Grace in My Journey.

I’m grateful for the friendships He’s brought into my life.

Most of all, I’m grateful that God is still writing my story.

Philippians 1:6 reminds us:

“…He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

What an incredible promise.

God isn’t finished with me.

And if you’re reading this today, He’s not finished with you either.

No matter what your past looks like…

No matter what struggles you’re facing…

No matter how many times you’ve stumbled…

His grace is still enough.

As I begin another year of life, my prayer isn’t for an easier road.

My prayer is to know Christ more deeply, trust Him more completely, and reflect His love more faithfully than I did the year before.

Because when I look back over every chapter of my life, one truth shines brighter than all the rest:

The greatest gift I’ve ever received wasn’t wrapped with paper and ribbon.

It was the grace of God.

Thank You, Lord, for another birthday.

Thank You for another day.

Thank You for 20 months and 5 days of sobriety.

And thank You for never giving up on me.

Saved by grace. Living by grace. Forever grateful for grace. ❤️
